You're Closer Than You Think — Keep Digging

Welcome back to another Ty Session. Today’s message is one I’m deeply passionate about, because it’s not just a lesson — it’s a reminder. A wake-up call. A truth I’ve had to learn and relearn myself: most people give up just before their breakthrough.
You’ve probably heard the story from Think and Grow Rich — the one about the miner who quit just three feet from gold. It’s a powerful metaphor, and I’m here to tell you why that story might be your story too — and how to make sure it doesn’t end the same way.
Progress Isn’t Linear
The reality is, the work you’re doing — whether that’s in the gym, in your finances, or in your mindset — it doesn’t always pay off right away. In fact, most of the time, you’ll feel like nothing’s changing. You’ll show up every day and still see the same body, the same account balance, the same struggles. And that’s where most people give up.
But that’s also where the magic is building.
When you show up for five minutes at the gym, that’s a vote for the person you’re becoming. When you set aside $20 toward an investment, that’s a brick in your foundation. Every choice you make is compounding, whether you see it or not.
1% Gains That Change Everything
James Clear’s Atomic Habits talks about the aggregation of marginal gains. Just 1% better, day by day. Imagine that. The British cycling team embraced this — testing everything from the comfort of their bike seats to the best pillow for optimal sleep. Those micro improvements led to Olympic gold.
That’s how growth happens. Quietly. Gradually. Then suddenly.
From Stress to Strategy
Most of us waste our Delta — our time — stressing. We use time to run mental loops, reinforcing our fears. But that same time can be spent crafting solutions. Even unrealistic ideas have more value than sitting in anxiety. Because at least you're now imagining a future where you're doing something different.
Buying Back Your Time
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — retirement is not an age. It’s a formula. When you invest in income-producing assets, you start buying freedom. Even if it’s just a few dollars at a time, over time that grows. Eventually, your bills are paid by your investments. Your job income becomes optional. That’s freedom.
Small deposits. Smart moves. And most importantly — consistency.
Don’t Stop 3 Feet From Gold
Let me be real: most people stop when the progress slows. When the hype fades. When the result doesn’t match the effort… yet.
But it’s always darkest before the breakthrough.
You might be one degree away — like the ice cube that doesn’t melt until it hits 32°. You might be one conversation, one rep, one post, one strategy away from your breakthrough.
And the only way to find out… is to keep going.
Final Thoughts
This session is about persistence. It’s about momentum. It’s about redefining success not by how fast it comes, but by whether you were still willing to show up when it was hard.
Whatever your gold is — don’t quit three feet away.
Push forward.
Because if you can hold the vision long enough and keep making those small, faithful steps… the breakthrough will meet you.
Make yourself a priority.
