Letting Go to Level Up — The Hardest Lesson I Had to Learn

In this Ty Session, I opened up about one of the toughest lessons life teaches us: in order to grow, you have to let go. It’s not always letting go of people—it’s about ideas, expectations, narratives, or even parts of yourself that no longer serve your next season.
Growth Requires Release
This past season, I wasn’t just randomly disappearing —I was growing. Not just in business or body, but internally. The biggest theme that kept showing up in my life was this: you cannot embrace what’s coming if you’re still gripping what’s gone.
A lot of what we hold on to—jobs, relationships, habits, identities—feels comfortable. But that comfort can become a cage. We cling to what was, not realizing we’re blocking what’s next.
This shows up in so many areas of life:
A business model that no longer works
A mindset shaped by fear instead of faith
A version of yourself that you’ve outgrown
If you’re not willing to let it go, you’ll miss what’s meant for you.
From Personal to Political — and Everything in Between
I used the analogy of a past relationship, not to dwell, but to illustrate how attachment holds us back. The deeper lesson goes beyond any one person. It's about the belief systems we’ve been taught, the loyalties we maintain out of guilt or fear, and the structures we’ve accepted as truth.
This shows up in:
Our political division and refusal to meet in the middle
How outdated legislation limits forward progress
The inability to see new opportunities because we're stuck defending old ones
You might feel this in your community. In your friendships. In your vision.
If you’re still emotionally or mentally trapped by something that broke you—or something you outgrew—it’s time to reevaluate. Letting go is not weakness. It's wisdom.
Reflect, But Don’t Regress
Look back only to learn. Not to live.
Every setback carries a seed of growth—if you’re willing to look for it. I’ve had deep conversations with people who’ve gone through real loss—jobs, marriages, entire seasons of life. And over time, what came through every conversation was this:
You can't fully step into your future while clinging to a version of your past.
And often, what’s broken can’t be put back together the same way. But that doesn’t mean it’s over. It means you’re being shaped for something new.
Shift Your Focus, Elevate Your Life
When you start focusing on:
Your purpose over your past
Your potential over your pain
Your progress over your perception of failure
…everything begins to change.
The right people, right rooms, right opportunities—start aligning. Not because they suddenly appeared, but because you finally saw them. And you were finally ready.
So I challenge you today:
Where do you need to let go?
What belief, relationship, or habit is limiting your level-up?
What future vision are you postponing because you’re still healing the past?
Let this be your wake-up call.
Final Word
We’re all figuring it out. We all carry scars. But if you’re willing to do the inner work, reflect with humility, and release what no longer fits—you’ll grow faster than you thought possible.
Make your goals, dreams, and ambition a priority.
