Breaking the Habit of Being YOU

In this episode of Ty Sessions, we go deep on one of the most difficult and necessary transformations anyone can make: breaking the habit of being yourself.

That sounds wild at first, but hear me out.

The Habits That Shape You

Who you are is built on what you do, what you believe, and how you think. But most people never stop to question any of it.

You’ve created a version of yourself based on:

  • Your past experiences

  • What others have told you

  • The environments you’ve been in

  • The content you consume

Over time, that all becomes a “default identity.” But what if that identity is holding you back?

To grow, you have to challenge the way you’ve always been. The problem is: most people don’t want to be uncomfortable enough to do it.

Change Starts with Awareness

You can’t change what you’re not aware of.

Everything starts with belief — and beliefs shape behavior. That means if your beliefs are outdated or limiting, your actions will reflect that, whether you realize it or not.

But here’s the good news: You can rewrite the whole system.

"When you change your knowledge, you change your beliefs. When you change your beliefs, you change your behavior. And when you change your behavior, you change your life."

Even just trying something new — getting feedback, applying it — becomes a loop that reshapes how you see the world.

You Are Not Your Thoughts (Unless You Let Them Run You)

If all you think about are problems, you’ll become a person constantly in problems.

If all you think about is your goal, you’ll start to see opportunities that align with it.

"What you think about most of the time, you become." — Ralph Waldo Emerson

That’s not just a quote. It’s a fact.

And it’s why self-reflection matters.

Question Everything — Even What You Think You Know

If you’ve never paused to ask why you believe what you believe… start today. Most people just accept opinions from the media, friends, influencers — and turn them into facts. But those aren’t your truths.

Real research isn’t just reading someone else’s opinion online. It’s experience, it’s feedback, it’s experimenting. And from that, you grow.

Why This All Matters

The book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza talks about how your identity — your thoughts, emotions, habits — all become a loop. If you want to change your life, you have to disrupt the loop.

And that takes awareness, belief, and bold action.

"Every small habit becomes who you are. And every belief you reinforce becomes your reality."

So ask yourself:

  • What habits are you repeating?

  • What beliefs are shaping your outcomes?

  • Are you creating limitation — or allowing abundance?

You are the only limit you have.

Final Thought

You don’t have to go with the flow. You can make your own.

Make your goals, dreams, and ambition a priority.
